Our Activities

4. Juli 2005 IZMP-in-house exhibition

Secretary of State Dr. Wiesheu gets some information about the applications of optical 3D metrology in medicine at the stand of 3D-SHAPE GmbH.

Automatic Registration

SLIM has been upgraded with a new functionality for automatic coarse registration. In most cases it is no longer required to interactively mark corresponding point pairs in the 3D datasets to be registered. The complete reverse engineering processing pipeline can now be fully automated.

Cooperation with 3DDigitalCorp U.S.A.

In cooperation with our partner 3DDigitalCorp we have designed a 3D scanning system that registers multiple object views automatically using an optical camera tracker.

12/3-12/2003: Your own 3D face model

Face

A second chance before Christmas

Because of the overwhelming request during the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" 3D-Shape Erlangen provided another chance to obtain a 3D cast of your own face. This service was meant for all people who did not have the chance at the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" because of either the long lines or not having known about it.

From the 3rd until the 10th of December you can get your own 3D model of your face on a CD-ROM (incl. visualization software). In addition, you can order a glass engraving with the model of your face inside.

10/25/2003: Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften

On October 25th, 2003 from 7:00 pm until 1:00 am the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" took place. Visitors were able to scan their faces and get a 3d model on a CD-ROM (incl. visualization software). Unfortunately, the demand for scans was so great, that we could not scan all the faces.

While visiting our lab Dr. Stoiber and the Mayor of Erlangen, Dr. Balleis let us scan their faces with one of our 3d sensors. Here are the results (by clicking on Animation Ein/Aus animations can be started):
